Antonin Dvorak's "From the New World" was written when the Czech composer was here in America to discover 'American music', 1892-1895. A great supporter of Native American and African-American music, he felt that true American music would come from these two traditions. Some consider this symphony the first American symphony as the symphonic form itself is regarded as European. It certainly is Dvorak's homage to this country. Enjoy!
