This is a charmer of a film, and while for "chicks" some of you male softies out there may just enjoy it as well.  That means all of you with doggies.

The film is about deaf, bright, 9 year old Frankie whose father is away, or so his protective mother says.  The father is in the merchant marine and his mother keeps up the charade by sending cards and letters, with stamps from everywhere, to convince her son.  The trouble starts when the ship his father is supposedly on is about to dock in Glasgow.  And now, you guessed it, she has hire a father fill-in.  But is that all there is to it?  The twists will surprise you and you may want to watch it again when you understand the ending.
