Under one set of circumstances, on a planet loaded with untapped resources just waiting to be harvested and put to good use by a growing population enjoying a higher-and-higher standard of living, one type of banking may work best.
Under other circumstances, such as that same planet down the road, after its low-hanging, easily-harvested resources have been taken and used, and the resources available can no longer support the overgrown population base, that type of banking which once worked best may become the worst type.
To be an economist/finance advisor, and ignore the context of a society's changing environmental situation, is like being a bus driver and ignoring road conditions. Such people shouldn't have licenses to drive the bus anymore.
Trapped in a world I never signed up for...

thank you for your comment. Indeed, reforming the Banking and Finance sector should have been priority #1 of Obama when he was elected in 2008.
