How much does belief in god provide the optimism,
the self-certainty of righteousness
instead of self-critical circumspection,
necessary to continue pursuing our life-destructive path?
Why is denial of the environmental damage we inflict
a fundamental teaching of so many churches?
Looking at America's cultural landscape, I cannot help but suppose
the god of the bible may not be the god of life at all,
but the god of life's destruction posing as the god of life.
Trapped in a world I never signed up for...
