Male risk taking is one of these things: showing off for the girls if you like.
And therefore the answer clearly is... fewer women in banking (now that they no longer are secretaries). Of course! If the boys can't control themselves, get rid of the girls. Or cover them in burkas. Or prohibit them from being in public alone. Perhaps the problem is with the boys and until they can play well with others, maybe they should remain in their collective corners. The article is not quite this simplistic, but it is close.

Among the various recommendations for banking reform it’s being said that we should have more women in banking. Especially, more women on trading floors. The reason being offered is that we know very well that
women are more averse to risk taking then men.
Thus, if we identify excessive risk taking as being one of the core problems with our current
banking set up then it seems entirely a no brainer to switch men for
women and thus lower that risk taking. The only problem with this idea is that while women do (on average
and in general of course) take fewer risks than men it is mixed gender
environments which make both men and women take more risks.
