Not a big fan of much Wagner opera, still, taking the story of a medieval knight and moving the story to a WWII concentration camp is just wrong. Most people seem not to like these modernized productions. Can't change the score or rewrite the libretto so what is left? Change the scenery. And this one went a little too far. Short video in the article.

The Rheinoper, based in Dusseldorf, said some of the audience had to seek medical help following early performances of Tannhauser. But the producer "refused" to tone down the staging, set in a concentration camp during the Holocaust.
