China is continuing to swelter under a wide-reaching heat wave. On Tuesday morning, the Central Meteorological Bureau again issued an orange heat alert. In most parts of southern China, temperatures are forecast to climb as high as 41 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
Imagine you’re driving on a highway in Central China’s Hubei Province, and your tire suddenly bursts because of the high temperature.
Or how about you’re are at a tourist spot in Jiangxi Province, in east China, and a hiker beside you suddenly suffers a heat stroke, and passes out.
Picture you accidentally drop a chocolate bar on the ground, and it melts almost in an instant. It’s been over a month, since a heat wave descended over southern China. And in Guangzhou, Tropical Storm Jebi
receded last week, sending the mercury up sharply
Lu Shan, Chief Forecaster, Guangdong Meteorological Bureau, said, "Since Sunday, the subtropical high has taken over Guangdong Province. Now the sky is very clear, so the sun is very strong. The province is likely to see high temperatures in the coming week."In Guangdong, the government has installed electric fans on the streets.
Guangzhou Resident said, "I try to choose the streets with fans, to cool myself down.
"Guangzhou Resident said, "It’s just too hot. The fan helps a bit for sure."According to weather forecasts, the heat wave hitting most parts of South China is not likely to ease until mid August.
