Who Can Take This System Seriously?

Over the past 15 years we have seen the most massive deregulation of financial oligarchs in civilized history. During the same period, any non-oligarch entrant into the finance world has discovered that life in a super-max prison would be less restrictive. Financial oligarchs do what they want when they want. When trades go their way they win. When trades go against them they have them reversed.

So naturally when the oligarchs install their handpicked watchdogs to squelch any entrepreneurial spirit we may mistakenly exhibit, we are skeptical. Let's not forget the track record of these trusted public service. While they vigorously attack anyone attempting to challenge the established financial class they have somehow missed these events which caused immense real pain to the populace they claim to protect:

The Mitt Romney campaign has finally allowed the press to keep a protective pool on the candidate.

Like the White House press pool, the rotating group of reporters in the protective pool will trail Romney and provide an account of his day-to-day, minute-to-minute activities, which will be sent to all political media outlets and reporters.

In 2008, then-Sen. Barack Obama agreed to allow a protective pool in June, just weeks after he had secured the Democratic nomination. Sen. John McCain, who secured his party's nomination in March, waited until the very end of July, though he often allowed press to travel on his plane with him prior to that. Then-Gov. George W. Bush did not take on a protective pool until September 2000 during his first campaign for the presidency.

Seven people were shot and killed today at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis., in what officials are treating as a case of domestic terrorism.

Though police have not given any details on the identity or motive of the shooter, or released the identities of the victims, sources have told ABC News the shootings are the work of a "white supremacist" or "skinhead."

This evening, the FBI and a bomb squad arrived at a home in Cudahy, Wis., near Oak Creek, and ABC News Milwaukee affiliate WISN reported the action appeared to be related to the temple shootings earlier in the day.

The war over Mitt Romney’s tax returns is getting more bitter by the moment, with a top aide to Senate Majority Harry Reid blasting Republicans as “cowards” and “henchmen” for their attacks on the Nevada Democrat.

“They’re a bunch of cowards and they’re avoiding the issue,” said David Krone, Reid’s chief of staff, in an interview with POLITICO on Sunday night. “Lindsey Graham, Reince Priebus - they’re a bunch of henchmen for Romney and they’re all reading off the same talking points. They couldn’t hold a candle to Harry Reid.”

Krone added: “What Harry Reid said is the fact of what he was told. To turn it around, all their childish rants this weekend about calling Reid a ‘liar’ and all that, it just shows you how scared they are that Harry Reid was telling the truth.”

A freelance photographer for The New York Times was arrested on Saturday night while on assignment with two reporters who were conducting street interviews in the Bronx.

The photographer, Robert Stolarik, 43, who has worked regularly for The Times for more than a decade, was charged with obstructing government administration and with resisting arrest. He was taking photographs of a brewing street fight at McClellan Street and Sheridan Avenue in the Concourse neighborhood.

Mr. Stolarik was taking photographs of the arrest of a teenage girl about 10:30 p.m., when a police officer instructed him to stop doing so. Mr. Stolarik said he identified himself as a journalist for The Times and continued taking pictures. A second officer appeared, grabbed his camera and “slammed” it into his face, he said.
